Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (1963) #6, Curt Connors was a fight veteran who misplaced an arm whereas in fight with the army. After returning home, Connors drew from his experience in biology to plot an experimental serum replicating reptiles skill to regenerate misplaced limbs and used it on himself in a determined try to regrow his arm, regardless of the dangers. Instead, the serum reworked Connors into the Lizard, a feral villain who prowled the streets of New York and was finally defeated by Spider-Man and restored to his human kind by means of an antidote.
Like in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, this treatment proves to be solely momentary, with Connors periodically reverting to his ravenous alter ego and battling Spider-Man.
