Children and grownups get the Leaping Lizards Reptile Experience at the kids’s museum in St. George on Jan. 14. (Nick Yamashita, St. George News)

Estimated checked out time: 1-2 minutes

ST. GEORGE — The expressions on the kids’ faces varied, some in awe and others rather anxious, when taking a look at the black and white striped king snake looking towards them, crawling around the hand of its handler. Those who fidgeted would quickly make a brand-new friend.

Lacey McIntyre, a regional reptile professional and lover, offered an instructional program to kids, moms and dads and grandparents for the grand opening day of the loaning library, the Story Castle. The program included her showing and assisting youth to experience, and even touch, a king snake, a bearded dragon and numerous tortoises, consisting of Sulcata that are belonging to Africa.

The program was held at the St. George Children’s Museum within the Canyon Media studios’ interaction space on the Tuacahn theater phase. Another reptile program will be on Sat., Feb. 11 from 11 a.m. up until 1 p.m. This reveal will remain in the exact same area and at the grand opening of the Desert Discovery Exhibit.

McIntyre said she’s liked reptiles given that she was young, maturing in Indianapolis, and has work experience prior to beginning Leaping Lizards Reptile Experience. During the years 2014-19, she was an administrative assistant, then took control of the outreach and education program for The Red Cliffs Desert Reserve. She transferred to St. George after participating in college in Nashville, when her spouse got a task working as a researcher at the Grand Canyon Parashant National Monument.
