Australian progressive rockers detail their new double album.
In keeping with the genre, the album bears a suitably winding name — PetroDragonic Apocalypse; or, Dawn of Eternal Night: An Annihilation of Planet Earth and the Beginning of Merciless Damnation. The announcement coincides with the release of Gila Monster, the first single from the record. Featuring roaring guitar riffs, the composition reveals a sonic direction of PetroDragonic Apocalypse, where King Lizard experimented with thrash sound. Fittingly, the accompanying video alludes to Lord of the Rings and computer games with a fantasy setting.
Described in the release as “high-octane thrash greatness”, PetroDragonic Apocalypse is the band’s 24th album, following 2019’s Infest The Rats’ Nest. It features eight tracks with the shortest clocking in at four minutes thirty seconds.
The album is out on 16 June via KGLW.
