KOTA BHARU: The Kelantan Civil Defence Force captured 1,073 snakes of assorted species statewide in February.
Its director, Colonel Mohd Adzhar Mujab attributed this to the venomous reptiles rising from the forests as a result of sizzling and dry climate.
He defined that in the course of the present dry season, most snakes would conceal in cooler areas reminiscent of below bricks, bushes and round homes.
“The Civil Defence Force caught 991 snakes in January and 934 snakes in March. Among the species are python, king cobra and monocled cobra,” he advised reporters on the Kota Bharu Welfare and Sports Volunteer Club Iftar occasion with orphans from Darul Kautsar and Pekayatim on the Kota Bharu Civil Defence District Office right here on Thursday (April 4).
Mohd Adzhar added that every one these animals had been returned to the Wildlife and National Parks Department to be launched again into their habitats. – Bernama
