Mick Foley handled his physique like a crash take a look at dummy in his prime, giving a number of his friends the jitters each time they noticed him wrestle within the ring. On a recent episode of “The Snake Pit,” fellow WWE Hall of Famer Jake Roberts recalled the time when he briefly aligned with Foley and The Barbarian in early ’90s WCW throughout his feud with Sting and Nikita Koloff. Unfortunately, this system by no means took off the best way it was supposed resulting from logistical causes, particularly Roberts’ points with Bill Watts and different members of WCW’s entrance workplace.
Reflecting on these jinxed plans, Roberts admits that he and Foley may have made a number of noise as a tag workforce. “There was potential there, for certain,” Roberts stated of his pairing with Foley. At the time, Roberts was already a veteran within the trade whereas Foley was an up-and-coming star, and Roberts says “The Hardcore Legend” would continually hunt down his recommendation on sure nuances. “He was asking for my opinion on stuff — what I considered this and that. He was a young man desirous to study, man. He was hungry.”
While Roberts appreciated Foley’s devil-may-care perspective, he was admittedly not a fan of Foley counting on stunts and hardcore matches to get himself over. “I liked Mick’s reckless work, however I feared for his life and for his well being. I do not know what sort of man I’d be if I’d seen someone setting [themselves] on fireplace and never saying, ‘Stop.’
“What type of man would I be? I’d just about be a giant a–gap, you understand? ‘Don’t set him on fireplace. Oh, go forward, set him on fireplace. He’ll be all proper.’ No, he will not. And that was my solely … I’m not knocking him and what he was doing. I simply feared for his well being and his well-being.”
