Sharjah24 – AFP: Tens of countless individuals thronged the town of Alappuzha in India’s southern Kerala state to see the 69th edition of the well-known Nehru Trophy Boat Race on Saturday (August 12).
An overall of 72 boats, consisting of 19 snake boats, took part under 9 classifications in this year’s race, regional media reported, to complete for the desirable prize.
Snake boats are standard to the area and are so required their long canoe-style shape.
The occasion is called after the very first prime minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru.
The yearly occasion is held each August, and draws countless viewers from worldwide.
This year the prize was won by members of the Pallathuruthy Boat Club, regional media reported.
