BAGALKOT: A mechanical engineer, who was on a padayatra to Mantralayam, died of snake bite three days ago.
The deceased is identified as Vinod Raghavendra Kulkarni, 36.
Ajeet B Patil, Vinod’s cousin brother., said that he had left for the padayatra along with friends.
“When they were walking at Bagalwadi village near Hutti on January 19, Vinod stepped on a snake. As it was a remote area, they could not get help to take him to the hospital. As it was sunset time, his friends could not recognise the snake.
A service vehicle of other devotees from Vijayapura district came to his help and took him to a hospital in Hutti. As there was no ventilator, doctors provided first aid there and suggested shifting him to a bigger hospital. His friends took him to a private hospital in Kalaburagi.,” the brother said. He, however, died.
Ajeet asserted that based on marks of the snake’s teeth, doctors suspected it was krait.
Vinod’s father Raghavendra said Vinod was staying in Bengaluru for a decade. “Earlier, he was working in a private company and he had floated his own company five years ago. He was an ambitious guy” he said.
