It was to be the signature attraction for Cedar Point’s ballyhooed a hundred and fiftieth anniversary celebration again in 2020.
But the pandemic scuttled these plans and left the anticipated launch of the Snake River Expedition caught on the dock till 2021.
And simply three seasons later, Cedar Point has pulled the plug on the interactive boat journey.

The writing was on the wall for the short-lived attraction that was common with households and children when one other interactive attraction inside the Sandusky park − the Forbidden Frontier on Adventure Island − closed in 2022 after simply 4 seasons. The Snake River Expedition shared synergy and actors with the island attraction.
The closure of the interactive island resulted in a scaled-back model of the Snake River Expedition with fewer actors and surprises for company.
The park has but to announce any future plans for both of the previous sights.
Work continues on the revamped Top Thrill Dragster curler coaster − Top Thrill 2 − after the journey was instantly closed following an August 2021 mishap and by no means reopened.
The mishap severely injured a park visitor from Michigan who was ready in line and was struck within the head by a bit of the journey.
The Top Thrill 2 would be the world’s tallest and quickest triple-launch strata curler coaster as soon as it opens on May 4 to the general public.
