Sept 16 (Reuters) – A snake delayed the beginning of a match between Greater Western Sydney Giants and Richmond Tigers within the Australian Football League Women’s (AFLW) competitors on Saturday.
The red-bellied black snake, a venomous species discovered throughout japanese Australia, was noticed slithering on the sphere at Blacktown International Sportspark in western Sydney because it appeared to benefit from the sweltering circumstances within the area.
Start of play was pushed again by round half-hour whereas officers waited for a snake handler to reach.
Video posted on X, previously referred to as Twitter, confirmed the snake handler taking a look at ease as he made gentle work of eradicating the reptilian intruder.
“There’s a little bit red-bellied black snake on the bottom for the time being, simply in one of many far pockets,” Briana Harvey, the Giants’ head of girls’s soccer, advised broadcaster Fox through the delay.
“It is 34 levels right here and we’re surrounded by bushland, so I assume it isn’t that shocking.”
The Tigers beat the Giants by 19 factors for his or her second win of the AFLW season.
