AN appeal has been launched to find the owner of a missing snake discovered after blocking a drainpipe.

The cornsnake has a temporary home at a Worcestershire animal rescue over Christmas, but the hope is it can be reunited with its owner.

The corn snake popped out of the end of the drainpipe and curled up on the floor near a pavement in High Street, Pershore.

Staff from Hinton Pest Control, of Evesham, attended and managed to safely rescue the snake using a pillow.

After the snake was checked at vets it emerged it has no microchip so has now gone into the care of Axolotl & Reptile Rescue and Advice UK in Evesham, which usually hosts animals which are up for adoption.

More images of the snake being held by Les Hiett, from the rescue, have now been shared in the hope the owner will come forward.

A spokesman from Axolotl & Reptile Rescue told us: “The snake is in good health.

“It is young, so weight is not a big issue.

“The owner can get in contact with us on our number (07861908017), through our Facebook or visit us at the centre (in Vine Mews, Evesham).

“We would need to see evidence from them before we give the snake over – but most people have pictures on their phone that would prove they are the owner.”

A spokesperson for Hinton Pest Control previously told us: “We are on call over the festive period and we were called by a local business owner who originally thought they had some kind of issue with their guttering and downpipe.

“When they went to inspect the downpipe they were rather surprised to find a snake fall out and curl itself at the bottom of the pipe around six feet away from the High Street pavement.

“They didn’t know what to do so they called us and we were able to head down and get him safely into the pillow.

“We took him to De Montfort Veterinary Surgery in Pershore and discovered he was not microchipped. He was in good health apart from being slightly underweight.

“We were able to take him to Axolotl And Reptile Rescue and Advice UK in Evesham who have been incredible and provided him with a habitat where he can safely stay.

“We are now in the process of trying to reunite him with his owner.”
