The reptile was discovered by a member of the general public in a vivarium beyond their property in the town recently with a note that said, “please feed my snake one mouse a day.”
After gathering the snake, the animal well-being charity revealed it was discovered in a healthy condition.
It is unidentified why the snake was left in the street, nevertheless, the SSPCA has said the cost of living crisis might have played a consider the reptile’s desertion.
Isla Bell, Scottish SCPA inspector, said: “We can validate that this snake is now safe in our care after a member of the general public found the abandoned reptile in a vivarium outside their property.
“The snake was found in good body condition, with a note that said, “please feed my snake one mouse a day”.
“We know that the cost-of-living crisis is causing worry to pet owners, but abandoning animals is never the answer.”
The inspector continued to state: “If you are having a hard time to take care of your family pets, please contact our private animal helpline on 03000 999 999 for help and recommendations.
“If anyone recognises this snake or has any information about how they came to be abandoned, please call our helpline.”
