As the Christmas food settles and we shake off the New Year’s Eve hangover, 4ZZZ gear up to host their biggest event of the year; The 4ZZZ Hot 100.
You might be more familiar with the famous triple j Hottest 100. However, 4ZZZ are the original founders and creators of the idea and, to this day, they carry on the tradition that started all the way back in 1976. Focused on lifting up communities and giving a platform to a whole array of artists, the Hot 100 is a treat that allows listeners to look back on some of their favourite tunes from the year.
This year’s winners included Square Tugs ft. Polly Cooke, with their cracking song, I Don’t Like It, landing in first place. In second place is the self-proclaimed punk-nerd band Mitch, Please, with their song Rich Mitch and scoring third place is Thrash/Death Metal band Idle Ruin with Valley Inferno.
Fourth place goes out to King Stingray with Camp Dog, and Brisbane babes The Double Happiness took out slot number five with their tune Smoking Gun. Number six goes to Teen Jesus & the Jean Teasers with their new banger, Girl Sports, and Samantha Josephine steals spot number seven with Feel The Hate. The last ones squeezing into those top ten spots are Thelma Plum with The Brown Snake, Full Flower Moon Band with NY-LA, and Doggie Heaven with Berghain.
