Environment officers in New York’s Long Island were shocked to discover an uncommon animal on the side of the roadway – a python.
Officers with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation got reports of a snake on the side of the roadway Feb. 14 in the town of Medford, the department said in a Wednesday press release.
When officers showed up on the scene, they found the snake was a reticulated python. It was curled into a ball, however a better looks revealed the snake was dead. The officers eliminated the snake from the street and started to deal with it when they determined the snake to be 14-feet-long.

Native to southern and Southeast Asia, reticulated pythons are among the world’s longest snake types, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and can rise to 20 feet in length.

Other reptiles discovered in New York
Days prior to the python was discovered, another reptile was discovered in New York.
A 4-foot-long alligator was discovered in a New York City park Feb. 19. It was in “poor condition and really sluggish” when it was discovered, and authorities said how the alligator wound up in the park was unidentified.
It was then required to a close-by zoo for rehab.
