Marie Stephens, 30, claims her XL Bully Lola was stabbed to demise after she got here home and located the canine lifeless in her condo.

Police say two males have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated housebreaking after attending a property on Wellington Road, Rhymney, the place officers discovered the canine.

Lola was three years old on the time of her demise.

Ms Stephens says she rescued Lola after it was found the canine was pregnant. She had had Lola for almost a 12 months.

Distraught Ms Stephens claims she returned to her property on a Sunday morning in September when she seen a window to the attic was open which she by no means usually makes use of.

She went into the flat, into the lounge and located Lola mendacity lifeless on the ground.

Ms Stephens claims a knife was nonetheless within the canine when she discovered her, describing the scene like a “bloodbath”.

On the incident, a Gwent Police spokesperson mentioned: “We acquired a report of a housebreaking in Wellington Way, Rhymney, at round 2pm on Sunday, September 10.

“Officers attended and a canine was sadly discovered lifeless inside a property.

“Two males – a 21-year-old and a 30-year-old, each from the Caerphilly space had been arrested on suspicion of aggravated housebreaking. They have since been launched on bail.

“Our enquiries continue, if you have any information please contact us on 101 or DM us quoting reference 2300306296.”

XL Bully breed status tarnished

XL Bullys have been out and in the information repeatedly in recent instances, with stories of the breed concerned in a spate of canine assaults.

One of essentially the most defining assaults in South Wales was the demise of 10-year-old Jack Lis in 2021, when he was mauled to demise in Caerphilly.

In the previous couple of days Marcus Walsh, 41, of Pen y Darren, Merthyr Tydfil, was sentenced to 18 months in jail for proudly owning a canine dangerously uncontrolled and inflicting harm when his XL Bully attacked a girl in Barry.

Rishi Sunak introduced that American XL Bully dogs can be banned by the tip of the 12 months saying it’s clear the American XL Bully canine is a hazard to communities.

However, there are these in help of the breed.

Emily Westwood, of Newport, has a 14-month-old XL Bully canine named Reign.

Ms Westwood says “not all Bullies are unhealthy” including “each single Bully I’ve ever come throughout in my life has been tremendous docile and tender”.
