A girl and her canine are fortunate to be alive after being swept away in harmful waters simply west of Melbourne on Tuesday.
Bystanders instantly known as for assist after they found the 29-year-old girl and her pooch, Minka, hanging on to a tree in fast waters alongside the Werribee River.
The girl, who’s but to be recognized, is known to have misplaced her footing whereas wading into the water to attempt to save Minka from being caught in a deep a part of the river close to Redgum Close in Werribee.
About 1.30pm, the girl and Minka had been swept away, travelling about 20m downstream earlier than a name for assist from passers-by was issued.
Victoria Police search and rescue squad and Water Police members arrived on scene and co-ordinated a rescue effort – with help from native officers and SES members – alongside the financial institution to avoid wasting the pair as they struggled within the water.
