A woman has been arrested in connection with a dog attack on a nine-year-old boy in Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, that left him with serious injuries.
The woman aged in her 30s, was arrested on Monday morning and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Enniscorthy Garda station.
In a statement gardai said investigations are ongoing.
Alejandro Miszan was airlifted to Crumlin children’s hospital where he underwent two surgeries following the attack by a pitbull terrier last month.
He had been playing with friends in the Old Forge Road estate in Enniscorthy, Co Wexford when he was set upon by the dog, which has since been destroyed.
The primary school student was left with extensive facial injuries and remains in Crumlin Children’s Hospital after undergoing two surgeries to date.
The young boy’s older brother Raul, 21, has revealed that his brother is expected to stay in hospital until at least January — meaning Alejandro will miss Christmas at home.
