GREENFIELD, Wis. (WMTV) – A 13-year-old canine who spent 11 years in an Alabama shelter was adopted on Friday by a pair in Wisconsin.
Fiona has traveled a whole bunch of miles in quest of a household.
“She’s only the third dog I’ve ever rescued that has spent almost her entire life in a shelter,” Vice President of Albert’s Dog Lounge Lindsey Decker stated.
Fiona spent 11 years at 2nd Chance Shelter in Boaz, AL earlier than being dropped at Wisconsin in hopes of discovering a ceaselessly home. On Friday, she lastly discovered one.
“I am so joyful, like my heart is bursting for her,” Decker stated. “I’m so excited today. That she has a home like this amazing forever home.”
Decker sifted via a number of purposes in quest of the suitable match. She had a guidelines and needed to discover a household who was home typically, has different dogs and a fenced in yard.
“I saw her story online and was just so overwhelmed with sadness that she was in the shelter for so long,” Carrie Saskowski stated. “And no one would adopt her knowing how sweet she was. It was just so sad to me, and I thought, oh my gosh, could we have the best life together.”
The Saskowski’s had been touched by Fiona’s story. She was dropped at their home in Greenfield, what Decker calls a ‘retirement village.’
“This glorious yard, dog siblings, pet parents who are just going to love her and give her the best last years of her life. I really I couldn’t be happier,” Decker stated.
Within minutes of arriving, Fiona started settling into her ceaselessly home.
“I really hope that this kind of opens people’s eyes to adopt seniors and to know that they are wonderful pets, and you can have such a great life with them and they bring you so much,” Saskowski stated.
Albert’s Dog Lounge takes in senior, hospice and particular wants dogs. Decker says they’re a part of a inhabitants that’s so typically missed and has the best fee to be euthanized.
The Saskowski’s beforehand adopted two dogs from them, Fiona makes three.
