NEW YORK CITY — The leading dog of the 147th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show was commemorated in Central Park on Wednesday.
Best in Show winner “Buddy Holly,” a Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen (PBGV), got the royal treatment throughout the yearly Champion’s Lunch at Tavern on the Green. He was fed premium chicken as he postured for images.
His breeder says she chose the name since he’s everybody’s friend.
“He’s simply an incredible, amazing dog. He’s a PBGV through and through. Every particular for the breed that you desire, he’s got. He revealed his little heart out last night,” handler Janice Hayes said.
It’s the very first time in Westminster’s history that a PBGV has actually won Best in Show.
