West Denton girl hurled racist abuse at police officer following canine dispute with neighbour

A Newcastle girl hurled racist abuse at a police officer following an ongoing canine dispute together with her neighbour.

Police have been known as to Ellen Rogers’ home on August 3 after she “barged previous” her neighbour who she had been feuding with for a while. But when the 2 law enforcement officials attended, the 27-year-old started meting out vile racist abuse and assaulted one.




On Wednesday, Rogers, of Deighton Walk, West Denton, appeared at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court dealing with two counts of a racially aggravated offence, one rely of assaulting a police officer and one rely of assault. She pleaded responsible to the offences on the listening to.

The courtroom heard that Rogers and her neighbour had been concerned in a long-running dispute in regards to the neighbour’s canine, which had been defecating in a communal space. When Rogers needed to go to the retailers, the neighbour refused to open the gate, so she “barged” previous him.

Brian Payne, prosecuting, mentioned that when police arrived, Rogers was in an “agitated state”. He mentioned: “She known as an officer a ‘black c***’ and made reference to his race.”

The courtroom was instructed that Rogers assaulted one of many officers and had since been given a neighborhood order for it. Mr Payne mentioned the assault occurred because the officer tried to take away her from her handle. He added that it was a “sustained interval of unhealthy behaviour”.

Nicholas Moore, defending, mentioned Rogers needs to be given most credit score for her responsible pleas, and mentioned the arguments together with her neighbour had been ongoing for a while. He mentioned: “It was in relation to [the neighbour’s] canine being allowed in a communal space. The canine was defecating within the communal space.

“She needed to go to the store and the neighbour refused to open the gate. She barged previous him, that was the assault. All hell broke lose later.”

Mr Moore mentioned Rogers “takes concern with undesirable touching” attributable to a earlier critical assault and requested police to ship feminine officers, however male officers attended. As they have been handcuffing her, an officer tried to retrieve keys out of her pocket with out informing her and he or she “took umbrage to that”.

Mr Moore added: “She is remorseful for what she has completed…and is appalled at her behaviour on that day.” The courtroom was instructed that Rogers has “advanced” psychological well being points and is a “troubled young girl”.

Magistrates ordered Rogers to pay a complete of £200 compensation to the officers.
