COTTAGEVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) – A utility employee and a next-door neighbor rapidly entered into action Monday early morning to lessen damage to a Cottageville home and save the dog inside.
A Palmetto Rural Telephone Cooperative staff member was next door making a setup on Peirce Road when he heard smoke detector coming for the home next door, Colleton County Fire-Rescue said.
A local of the home he was operating at understood the next-door neighbor was not home and both went to the doublewide mobile home and discovered smoke.
They had the ability to open the front door of the home and permit the dog to leave without injury, firemens said.
When firemens showed up on the scene minutes later on, they found a burning chair thought to have actually been fired up by a cigarette.
Firefighters said they brought the chair outside and put out the fire prior to clearing the home of smoke.
Firefighters state fire damage inside the home was very little.
