A DOG owner is appealing for information on the whereabouts of his beloved pet after she vanished from the garden of their family home.
Kera is a 15-year-old chocolate brown Cocker Spaniel who is dearly missed by her owner David Finchett.
The dog went missing from the garden of their Rosside, Ulverston, home at lunchtime on January 6.
There have been no sightings of the dog since, but David wishes to thank the numerous community members who have come forward to help search for Kera.
“We have been searching without success since (January 6),” said David. “Whilst we have not had a happy outcome we are grateful for the support of the local community who came forward to help, many of whom went out with their own dogs to look and who searched their gardens and outhouses.
“Jennie Alton from Wigan came across with her tracker dogs to help.
“Thanks are also due to Ulverston Inshore Rescue and West Cumbria Search and Rescue.
“On the first night we had thermal cameras looking across the surrounding area without success, and a camera drone searched the area on Saturday 7.”
David describes Kera’s disappearance as ‘strange’ and has concerns that she may have been taken.
He said: “Given the extensive searching we have done of the area since we find it strange that there hasn’t been a single sighting of her.
“The fields around tend to be well fenced off and there are now limited places for her to be. We can’t rule out the possibility that she has been picked up by someone who hasn’t returned her for whatever reason.”
Kera is a talent dog who has competed at Crufts several times, winning twice.
David said: “Kera has competed in agility at Crufts eight times, winning twice with the Kidderminster team. In the past she has found a missing dog herself.
“She is 15 but looks younger and she has been spayed. Kera is microchipped, wears a collar and an ID Tag. She is much loved and greatly missed.”
If you believe you have seen Kera, message Dave Finchett on Facebook.
