One of Donald Trump’s potential operating mates is dealing with criticism for sharing a narrative in her memoir about how she killed her canine.
Kristi Noem, 52, the governor of South Dakota, wrote in her soon-to-be launched memoir that the canine, Cricket, was “untrainable” and “harmful”.
After deciding she wanted to be put down, Ms Noem led the canine to a gravel pit and shot her.
“It was not a pleasing job,” she wrote. “But it needed to be performed.”
The memoir, titled No Going Back: The Truth on What’s Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward, is due for launch on 7 May, although an excerpt was obtained by The Guardian.
The story was met with condemnation on-line.
