On Friday, Southwest Airlines published a TikTok chronicling the journey of Dog Doga packed animal that was left on a current flight to Dallas.
The video, which acquired almost 600,000 views by Saturday, revealed pictures of Dog Dog resting on the tarmac, keeping an eye out the plane window, relaxing in the cockpit, and lastly, after it was returned home.
“POV: A Southwest staff member recovers your left-behind packed animal and mails him back to you together with an image album revealing his experiences while he was far from you,” the post checks out.
But following the airline company’s enormous disaster in December — which left thousands of passengers stranded and triggered chaos at airports across the country — some TikTokers were tired of the business’s feel-good post.
Comments calling out the business for what users viewed as “troubleshooting” amassed countless likes. Some composed it was the marketing department’s effort at fixing the business’s credibility, and others split jokes at Southwest’s expense.
“I’m amazed the packed animal’s flight didn’t get cancelled,” one remark read. “That’s cool and all however y’all still left me stranded at the airport for 3 days,” checked out another.
Other TikTok users who saw the video appeared less doubtful, praising the airline company for reuniting Dog Dog with its owner.
According to a declaration Southwest offered to Insider, Dog Dog’s owner is a kid called Luna, who was taking a trip with her mom, Jessica, a Southwest staff member. Jessica was en path to Dallas to commemorate her 10-year anniversary at the business, when she recognized they’d left Dog Dog behind, the declaration checked out.
“I could not think we left her packed lovey behind, so I rapidly called my associate Christina who has actually been a friend through work for years, and she used to go select it up,” Jessica said, according to the declaration.
“A week later on Christina’s house flooded and I was reluctant to reach back out,” she continued. “But to not a surprise, she kept Dog Dog safe and drew in a couple of other workers to make some memories with Luna’s packed puppy.”
