A Texas canine groomer allegedly killed a Yorkie named Sugar by hitting her within the abdomen and grabbing her neck — as a result of she was being “aggressive.”
Benjamin Aguilar, 39, was charged with cruelty to non-livestock animal leading to loss of life in reference to the incident at Kanino Dog Grooming in Brownsville on Christmas Eve, ValleyCentral reported.
Sugar’s proprietor informed police that he dropped the pup off for a haircut and that moments later, Aguilar known as to say she had fainted.
The proprietor demanded to observe surveillance video, which allegedly confirmed the groomer placing the pooch within the stomach and grabbing her by the neck, in response to the outlet, which cited Brownsville cops.
Aguilar informed admitted to officers that he used extreme power and struck the canine as a result of she was being aggressive and he was making an attempt to “maintain control,” in response to police.
Brownsville Animal Control responded to the scene and checked the video.
“Upon review of the footage, Animal Control Officers concluded that Aguilar used excessive force while handling the victim’s dog,” police stated.
Aguilar was booked into the City Jail and arraigned Monday.
He was issued a bond of $8,000.
The homeowners of Kanino Dog Grooming didn’t reply to a request for remark by the outlet.
