Pune: Tempo driver Vinayak Ahiwale (22) from Hadapsar was arrested and three others have been booked on the cost of attacking three males with a glass bottle and an iron rod, when a dispute broke out after his automobile grazed a puppy at Kunjir Vasti close to Tadigutta bridge round 9.30am on Saturday.“Ahiwale was passing from Kunjir Vasti when local resident Mohnish Pawar signalled to him to stop and picked a fight with him over the former’s vehicle grazing the puppy. After Ahiwale sought reasons for stopping him, Pawar began an argument with him over the issue of driving the vehicle recklessly, also endangering the life of children playing in the vasti,” stated inspector Mahesh Bolkotgi of the Mundhwa police on Monday. He stated, “Ahiwale attacked Pawar with a bottle after heated arguments and called his three friends over the phone. The trio surfaced at the spot soon. Ahiwale and his friends then attacked Pawar together. The latter’s two brothers — Ramesh and Amrish — intervened in the dispute but Ahiwale and the others assaulted them also.”He stated, “We have arrested Ahiwale and are questioning him to establish the identity of his three accomplices. Ahiwale has registered a cross-complaint against the puppy owner, Pawar, and another person. We have issued notices to Pawar, asking him to join the police in investigations. The decision on action against Pawar and the other person will hinge on the outcome of their questioning.”
