A TEENAGER and her black Russian terrier will likely be flying the flag for Jersey on the world’s largest canine present this weekend.
Katya Lynnyk-Ali (16) and three-year-old River are making their third journey to Crufts, which concludes tomorrow on the NEC in Birmingham.
The journey comes after success ultimately month’s Dog of the Year present in Jersey, with River awarded the Reserve Best in Show class – equal to total second place – from round 80 eligible dogs.
While River takes half within the “good citizen” and open lessons at Crufts, Katya will even be competing for the Young Kennel Club dealing with award for individuals aged 21 and beneath.
The Birmingham journey has marked a brief break from routine for Katya, who’s finding out for GCSEs at Jersey College for Girls. After an in a single day boat to Portsmouth on Thursday evening, yesterday was taken up with the drive north and an intensive day of canine bathing and grooming earlier than occurring parade at 8am immediately.
As nicely as representing Jersey, Katya will likely be proudly flying the flag for Ukraine. Her mom, Oksana, who works as a nurse on the Hospital, was born and introduced up in Ukraine and the household have lived in Jersey since 2019.
