VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WTKR) – Police in Virginia shot and killed a pit bull after authorities state it assaulted a teen, leaving him seriously hurt.
Police state the call about the dog attack was available in around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday from a Virginia Beach community. The victim is thought to be 14 to 15 years of ages.
“I’ve never seen a dog attack anyone, like only on TV, not in person. It was horrible,” next-door neighbor Terri Hall said.
Witnesses state the teen was waiting to get his sibling, who was being dropped off by a school bus, when the dog assaulted him. It’s uncertain how the dog, thought to have actually been a pit bull, got loose and if it resided in the community.
Hall and another next-door neighbor, Tyjuan Walker, delved into action to help the teenager.
“The little boy was saying, ‘Help. Don’t let me die,’” Walker said. “The dog was too vicious.”
Hall says she put the dog in a headlock and swung it around, being successful in getting it off the victim.
“I’m going to be honest, she saved that little boy’s life,” Walker said.
Hall says she has a child about the very same age as the victim, and she was considering her at the time.
“My adrenaline kicked in, and I just did what I did,” she said.
As officers were providing the victim help, authorities state they were “confronted by the dog and euthanized it” by shooting it two times.
The victim was required to the medical facility with severe injuries.
