A brand new Perthshire crime fighter has been appointed.
Police canine Nash, a 16-month-old Belgian Malinois, has joined Tayside Division Dog Unit.
Nash and her two sisters, Ninja and Nyx, got here from a West Midlands Police breeding programme.
Nash is sorted by handler police sergeant Lisa Harris.
The canine unit is Dundee-based, but it surely helps policing throughout the Tayside and Perth areas.
Sergeant Harris mentioned Nash had proven plenty of potential for police work.
She added: “Nash could be very pushed to work and loves all points of what she does.
“She could be very fast to be taught, has a fantastic on and off change, and has fitted in with my two pet dogs, and household at home properly.
“I couldn’t have requested for a greater canine than Nash. She could be very particular.
“I feed her Royal Canin German Shepherd kibble – she occasionally has some raw broccoli or carrots as a treat.”
The preliminary coaching course lasted greater than three months.
Lisa added: “Together, we did 14 weeks coaching, which consisted of coaching her to have the ability to discover hidden folks indoors and open air like lacking individuals, vulnerable individuals, or individuals who have dedicated offences and are hiding from the police.
“She can find property which has been discarded, and is also trained in agility and heel work as well as how to chase and detain a person.”
Nash’s two sisters are each now working in Aberdeen.
