Allison Pearson, 50, the owner of The Stress Free Groomer in Breachwood, Stowlangtoft, just recently participated in Impact 2023 in Sunderland, where she won the Best Niched Groomer Award.

Miss Pearson said that she is “thrilled” to be identified for her dedication to assisting dogs on their grooming journey which winning the award was “the icing on the cake”.

She included: “Having a grooming beauty parlor or perhaps a grooming profession was not on my profession list when I left school.

“I went to college and trained to be a receptionist and wound up working as receptionist/admin staff in a meat producing business.

“I spent seven years there before moving into the building supply sector and working for Jewsons as an administrator at their branch in Spalding Lincolnshire. During my time with them, I got to go move branches, and I moved to Bury St Edmunds in 2002.”

Miss Pearson, who matured in an extremely little town called Algarkirk in Lincolnshire, was made redundant in 2009 and got a job in a farm shop.

She said: “I then discovered a part-time admin position in Hadleigh for a landscape business, which suited well for me at the time.

“I was also living in a shared house and after a chat with my then landlady I decided to start a dog walking business.”

Miss Pearson said that March 2012 was a “turning point” in her profession.

She utilized to assist rescued dogs with transportation runs, and one day she discovered herself in the middle of a dog battle, losing the suggestion of her finger. 

She said: “I had actually got bites all over my hands and arm and my ring finger was hanging off and the suggestion of my middle finger likewise didn’t look excellent.

In July 2012, Miss Pearson went full-time with her dog walking and pet-sitting business.
