A golden retriever in Britain, nicknamed the “The Dogfather,” is retiring after fathering greater than 300 puppies.

Trigger, the 9-year-old golden retriever, was the “star stud canine” of Guide Dogs’a charity that helps pair dogs with folks with imaginative and prescient impairment within the United Kingdom. He has fathered 39 litters, together with a record-breaking one with 16 puppies in 2021, in accordance with the charity.

Guide Dogs, in a information launch, stated that 294 of Trigger’s puppies have been bred by the charity itself, whereas one other 29 pups have been born “of his worthwhile ‘collaborations’ with different help canine charities and information canine faculties,” bringing his whole to 323.

Triglets

Trigger’s puppies have been affectionately nicknamed “Triglets,” by volunteers and information canine house owners. Dixon stated the charity hopes Trigger’s son Billy joins the breeding program and continues his father’s legacy.

“In the meantime, 9 of his daughters, in addition to his half-French son Pierre, are serving to us to carry ahead a brand new era of information dogs with Trigger’s incredible genes,” Guide Dogs stated.

As for Trigger’s future? Guide Dogs stated that he’ll keep in Banbury along with his Breeding Dog Volunteer Sarah Byrne, who has sorted him for previous seven years and can now formally undertake him.
