Chaos broke out on Park Avenue, South Bank, Middlesbrough at 2pm after officers had been referred to as out to take care of an incident.
Cleveland Police mentioned officers had been attending an deal with on the street in response to a report of violence when the assault occurred.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson mentioned: “A 27-year-old man from Middlesbrough has been arrested following an incident in Park Avenue, Southbank.
“The incident occurred at 2pm at present, Saturday 23 September, when officers attended an deal with in response to a report of violence.

“Upon arrival on the property, a police car was smashed with a pole inflicting important harm to the windscreen of the car.
“A Police Officer was then bitten by a big Malinois canine, sustaining accidents to his leg.
The 27-year-old-man was arrested on suspicion of frequent assault, battery, affray and tried part 18 assault. The man stays in police custody.
