A day out at a dog park almost ended in disaster for a mini dachshund and its owner, who were both strongly assaulted by a bigger breed.
Just weeks out from her fairy tale wedding event, bodybuilder Isabelle Payne and her four-legged fur baby Lola came down with a stunning mauling when they were set upon by a hostile bull terrier.
The set were with Payne’s fiancé Jacob Thirkettle at an off-leash park on the Gold Coast on Wednesday when the “unprovoked” attack unfolded.
Both the bride and her dog sustained dreadful injuries, with Payne withstanding a variety of swellings, scratches and leaks from being bitten in the attack.
Meanwhile Lola was badly hurt, with her injuries possibly dangerous if Payne didn’t action in.
The occurrence happened simply 7 weeks prior to Payne and Thirkettle getting married.
“One of the worst possible things happened to Lola, our 3-year-old miniature dachshund and Isabelle, my fiancée,” Thirkettle composed on a GoFundMe page established for the set.
“They were both attacked unprovoked and mauled by another dog while at an off-leash dog park on the Gold Coast and my fiancé was very badly injured trying to extract Lola from its grip.”
“Safe to say that without Isabelle‘s quick thinking Lola wouldn’t be here with us today.”
Thirkettle continued by thanking members of the neighborhood who helped his partner and their dog by coming “to their rescue.”
Following the occurrence, Lola was hurried to the veterinarian where she went through surgical treatment to fix lacerations on her back and the fur near her ribcage.
“Lola’s operation went well but she still has a long journey ahead with her recovery and it’s early days,” Thirkettle said.
The future wedded couple established the GoFundMe page in a quote to save up enough money to cover Lola’s veterinarian costs, with the dachshund needing more veterinarian check outs and continuous treatment.
Generous Australians have actually given that assisted the couple raise more than their $2000 objective, with the set getting $520 more than their target.
