The dog, which was worn a blue t-shirt, was recuperated by British Transport Police (BTP) at Wolverhampton train station.
Officers went to on Friday and the dog was briefly positioned in alternative care.
The dog was briefly kept in a paddy wagon and officers published an image of it on Twitter keeping an eye out the window.
A BTP representative said: “Officers were contacted us to Wolverhampton train station following reports of an inebriated female and issue for the well-being of her dog.
“Officers went to and the dog has actually been briefly positioned in alternative care.
“Our queries into the event are continuous.”
The post on Twitter resulted in a single person asking if officers had actually dressed the dog up for the picture.
BTP reacted: “Can verify the style criminal offense was not our doing!”
Yesterday our officers received a text report concerning a female who was intoxicated and not properly looking after her dog.
Officers went to and guaranteed the well-being of the dog whilst additional queries are continuous to develop any offenses #SeeItSayItSorted 🐶 pic.twitter.com/tsYl3ldGeh
