Small dogs stay longer than greater breeds as a result of they’re vulnerable to much less extreme illnesses, in response to analysis.
The bigger pets face most cancers, bone-related ailments, gastrointestinal issues, neurological and endocrine points.
But scientists from the Washington University in Missouri – analysing 25,000 canines from 238 breeds – discovered smaller dogs extra prone to have ocular, cardiac and respiratory issues.
Lead creator Yunbi Nam defined: “The findings could lead to an understanding of conditions that may underlie lower lifespans.”
