BRACEVILLE — Residents of the neighborhood now have a place to carry their canine companions as two Braceville siblings not too long ago accomplished an Eagle Scout challenge by building a canine park with a fenced-in walking space and benches.
John Jaros, 18, and Maelynn Jaros, 16, earned their Eagle Scout badges for finishing the canine park, situated off Braceville Robinson Road subsequent to the highway and police departments.
Both are with Boy Scouts of America Troop 8 Stambaugh District Great Trail Council. They are the youngsters of Daniel and Jessica Jaros.
An Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony took place not too long ago at Johnson Community Center.
Eagle Scout is the very best honor a Boy Scout can earn, and scouting now contains girls and boys.
Work started on the canine park in April 2023 and was accomplished in October.
Maelynn designed and constructed the canine park for her challenge, and John accomplished the benches contained in the park for his.
“I have a dog of my own and around the dog park is a running track. The dogs can enjoy being outside running around in a fenced-in area,” Maelynn stated.
“There is a bench in the smaller dog section and a bench in the larger dog section. I know people like to sit and watch their dogs,” John stated.
The siblings’ mom stated she has talked to individuals who like the thought of letting their dogs off leash to run round within the park.
“It is unique that a brother and sister both earn their Eagle Scout on the same day,” she stated.
Maelynn stated the park is split so smaller breed dogs and bigger breeds are stored aside.
“It touched our hearts to have so much support and to have so many people attend the Eagle Scout award ceremony,” John stated.
“We would not be standing here today if it weren’t for the support we have received,” Maelynn stated.
Braceville Trustee Todd Garland stated he was approached by Maelynn and John in regards to the challenge.
“When Maelynn told me about a dog park, I was very surprised by the size of the project that she wanted to take on. I realized she and her brother were working on their Eagle Award, so I could see they would complete their projects. They both showed that they were competent to complete it,” Garland stated.
The trustees offered proclamations to thank the Jaroses for his or her work.
“These were exceptional achievements that they earned for the hard work they did,” Garland stated.
He stated he sees folks within the canine park on a regular basis, particularly throughout hotter climate.
“The dog park is used a lot. Very seldom do I drive by there and not see someone in the park with a dog,” Garland stated.
Garland stated as an older inhabitants, residents carry their dogs to run and play whereas they sit on the benches.
“We look forward to many other Eagle Scout projects,” he stated.
Scout leaders stated these incomes Eagle Scout honors change into examples of their neighborhood and leaders to different Scouts.
John and Maelynn attend Trumbull Career and Technical Center and are college students at LaBrae High School.
John, a senior, is within the culinary arts program and Maelynn, a sophomore, within the Early Innovators Academy. She stated she plans to review firefirefighting and emergency medical service subsequent 12 months.
