A housebreaking suspect was handled for minor accidents after being stopped by a police canine after making an attempt to flee close to Richmond, Sheffield.
The man had his thigh grabbed by the police canine, known as Kiki, on Wednesday evening (January 3), in a tussle as he tried to flee, say South Yorkshire Police.
The canine and her handler, PC Faye North-Gill, had been dispatched to the Co-Op grocery store on Richmond Road, Richmond, at 10.30pm on Wednesday, following stories of a housebreaking, stated police.
The pressure stated in a press release: “Upon arrival, a person matching the outline was seen fleeing the scene and ran from officers alongside Hastilar Road.
“PD Kiki instantly began monitoring a scent and led PC North-Gill to a cul-de-sac shut by and indicated at a big shrubbed space in entrance of some homes.
“A person was seen to be hiding within the bushes and PC North-Gill requested he come out and current himself.
“District officers arrived to arrest the person, who then began to turn out to be violent, throughout which led to officers and the person on the ground as he tried to flee.
“Threatening with PD Kiki for his compliance, PC North-Gill used her accomplice who confirmed the suspect that violence won’t be tolerated in direction of her colleagues by detaining the person’s thigh.”
Police stated the person continued to attack officers and tried to assault Kiki by kicking her together with his different leg.
Officers known as for back-up and the person, aged 41, was put right into a police van and transported to custody after being arrested on suspicion of housebreaking.
“He was later handled for minor accidents and stays in police custody presently,” the assertion added.
