SEVEN terrier-cross siblings have been reunited for their first birthday, gathering for the first time since leaving Basildon Dog’s Trust rehoming centre with their new families.

Chewie, Indie, Maple, Oscar, Roxy, Ted and Willow all gathered together at the charity’s Christmas fair, for the first time since they were rehomed in January 2022.

The seven siblings were able to reconnect and share a special reunion as well as the added bonus of celebrating the puppies’ first birthday.

Damien O’Brien, owner of Chewie with his partner Charlotte, wanted to reconnect the siblings.

With the help of social media and the Dogs Trust, he was able to reach out to the other owners, so the seven siblings could reunite.

On the reunion, Damien said: “Adopting Chewie has brought us so much joy; he’s such a playful, cheeky and smart boy, and I was curious to find out if his siblings were of a similar character and if they looked the same.

“Through the power of social media and with the help of the Dogs Trust I was able to connect with all the other owners.

“Then, when we realised that the centre’s Christmas Fair was being held the same weekend as the puppies’ first birthday, it was the perfect opportunity to arrange a reunion for them all.

“The dogs seemed very excited to see each other so I definitely think that they recognised each other, and it was great to see them all playing together.”

Kelly McMaster, Dogs Trust Basildon manager, added: “It was heart-warming to see these adorable siblings all together again, especially on their birthday.

“We had the joy of taking care of them last year and it’s lovely that they’ll be spending this Christmas with their new families.

“The team at the centre work hard all year round, taking care of many dogs and finding them their forever homes. Seeing these young pups with their loving owners is what we are all working for.”

Any residents in the Basildon area who are able to offer any of the dogs a loving home can visit bit.ly/3h3M1uA, to begin the rehoming process.
