Officers have been deployed to Hampton Street in Birmingham on Tuesday following stories of a 17-person brawl.

Footage from the scene exhibits a canine battling with a person who’s mendacity on the bottom, whereas the handler stands over him.

The man on the bottom was “absolutely terrified” and “begging” for the police officer to cease the canine, a witness who didn’t need to be named claimed

They mentioned: “The guy was shouting, saying ‘ok ok ok’ – and it wasn’t ok,”

The witness said that it made her feel “absolutely sick” and that she couldn’t get it out of her thoughts.

“I just keep seeing it,” she mentioned. “It makes me really feel disgusting and I don’t need to stay on this horrible world.”

West Midlands Police mentioned it was happy the canine was “deployed appropriately”

A spokesperson mentioned: “We have been referred to as to Hampton Street in Birmingham metropolis centre at round 11.15am on Tuesday to stories {that a} group of 17 folks have been preventing.

“As officers arrived, one man was seen repeatedly kicking and punching at somebody on the ground. A canine handler ordered the suspect to face nonetheless earlier than he ran.

“A police canine detained the person and tugged at his clothes till the canine’s handler had safely detained the suspect.

“The 19-year-old was arrested on suspicion of affray. He suffered a minor damage to his left thumb.

“The suspect was de-arrested as soon as his particulars have been taken and he will probably be interviewed on suspicion of violent dysfunction sooner or later.”

Insp Leanne Chapman, from the power’s harmful canine unit, added: “Every month, our dogs are deployed to properly over 1,000 incidents throughout the West Midlands.

“They and their handlers are educated to help their colleagues to guard the general public, and know to make use of proportionate power to scale back the chance to others

‘Having reviewed CCTV and bodyworn footage exhibiting extra of the incident, we’re happy that the canine was deployed appropriately to detain a suspect and assist deliver a violent state of affairs underneath management.”
