Kathleen informed Scunthorpe Live: “I was taking her for a walk on Moat Road due to the fact that she likes to go for a swim every day so we do a circular path round and I was almost back to the car and there was just Jack, my other dog, there. I screamed for Honey and she wasn’t there and I might hear a bark bark bark, however I could not see anything.
“I asked a man if he might help me discover the barking, so he began flattening the yard and I slipped. As I slipped, there was this huge manhole space, and the man looked down and said: ‘She’s in here’.”
Kathleen called Humberside Fire and Rescue in the hopes that they might obtain Honey from the manhole, and 2 engines were sent to the location at 1.40pm.
The manhole was so deep that a firemen needed to go in to rescue Honey, who came out “jet black and dirty”.
“It was extremely deep, the firefighters needed to go in and get her. She kept attempting to go out by entering into the sewage system, we were stressed she’d get lost and go deeper. We kept screaming and screaming and Jack kept barking and barking so it kept making her returned to the bottom,” Kathleen said.
“She remained in shock and definitely jet black and dirty. It took us hours and hours cleaning her, we utilized 3 bottles of cleaning up liquid. It was dreadful.”
She said she has actually been left not able to sleep as an outcome of the occurrence, and is stressed for other individuals who walk in the location.
“I’ve strolled throughout that yard numerous times and I never ever dreamed there’d be a manhole there. I cant sleep, I might’ve fell in there, it might’ve been me. The firefighters said even if I had actually fell in there with my mobile, I most likely would not have actually had any signal. I have not been back and I do not elegant walking there once again.”
Nevertheless, the reunion was a happy one – and Kathleen said she could not stop weeping when she understood Honey was okay.
She said: “I was simply in shock, I simply stood there in shock not understanding what to do while it was all occurring. But when they got her I could not stop weeping.”
The set checked out the firemens at Scunthorpe Fire Station on Wednesday to express their thankfulness.
