Scooter thrived over a group of unique-looking dogs to win the 2023 World’s Ugliest Dog Contest at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, California on Friday.

This year’s champ was born with warped back legs, according to TODAY. The 7-year-old was saved by the Saving Animals From Euthanasia (SAFE) rescue group.

As the grand reward winner, Scooter, a hairless Chinese Crested dog, gets $1,500, a prize, and the love of the contest’s countless fans.

The World’s Ugliest Dog Contest is a yearly occasion that began over twenty years earlier and was created to motivate love for all animals, specifically rescue family pets.

“While the World’s Ugliest Dog contest is an event of the flaws that make our dogs adorable, a good much of them are saves from shelters and puppy mills, so we utilize the enjoyable and prestige of this competitors to raise awareness for dog adoption,” Tawny Tesconi, CEO, Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds and Event Center, said in a declaration. “Dogs resemble family and be worthy of caring houses no matter their physical interruption.”

Last year, the contest returned after a two-year break due to the pandemic. In 2022, a dog named Mr. Happy Face won the top prize, thanks in part to his misaligned smile and plain, white mohawk.

Scooter signs up with Mr. Happy Face and over a lots other pups in the Ugliest Dog Contest winner’s circle, consisting of 2019 winner Scamp the Tramp and Zsa Zsa, whose large position and teeth-exposing underbite assisted her vanquish 13 other participants in 2018.
