DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG/Gray News) – A young pup in Iowa is recovering after animal rescuers discovered him with an embedded collar.
According to the Animal Rescue League of Iowathe staff discovered the canine named King lined in blood earlier this week.
Rescuers mentioned the poor pup was bleeding as a result of his collar was so deeply embedded that it induced a wound almost throughout his neck.
Whoever put the collar on the canine by no means adjusted it as he grew, leaving it to develop deeper into his neck which induced it to chop and reopen the wound as he moved, in line with rescuers.
The emergency care staff mentioned they sedated King and reduce the collar off.
However, they discovered a gaping wound underneath the collar. The staff mentioned it was a minimum of 1.5 inches deep and dangerously near his jugular.
King is recovering and has since been given ache medicines and antibiotics to assist his physique heal. Rescuers mentioned the wound might take weeks to heal fully.
The Des Moines Police Department can also be investigating. Police are asking anybody with additional info to contact them.
