The Regina Police Service has a brand new accredited facility canine on the Regina Children’s Justice Centre to help victims and witnesses locally.
Sinclair is a Pacific Assistance Dogs Society (PADS) licensed help canine taking on for PADS Merlot, who retired in 2023.
PADS Sinclair has been working locally since December 2023. Sgt. Kyla Young says he has already made an affect.
“He has already assisted in numerous investigations where because of his calming presence, has made it a little bit easier on victims and/or witnesses of crime or trauma,” Young mentioned.
Sinclair began his coaching with PADS at eight weeks old and has 1,200 hours of coaching beneath his paws.
He can be serving to as a companion throughout police investigations, aiding youngsters at hospitals who’re victims of kid abuse and serving to vulnerable adults throughout medical examinations. He may also assist individuals testifying in courtroom.
