EAST HAVEN, Conn. (WFSB/Gray News) – A puppy is getting a brand new lease on life after being rescued from a scorching automobile in Connecticut.
The beagle was rescued final week from a locked automobile that was over 120 levels, based on East Haven Mayor Joseph A. Carfora.
WFSB stories the 6-month-old puppy was discovered by a resident that day and the fireplace division was contacted after an animal management officer couldn’t discover the automobile’s proprietor.
Officials stated the puppy was surrendered to East Haven Animal Control Officer Emily Higgins after the rescue.
Mayor Carfora took a liking to the puppy and acquired a number of calls requesting that the city undertake him.
Police Chief Ed Lenon and Fire Chief Matt Marcarelli agreed and in the end determined that the pup would name the East Haven Fire Department headquarters home.
“He has a great temperament and will get along with the on-duty crews as well as be an ambassador to the department at public education and community events,” Carfora stated.
The puppy goes to be a station help canine, which serves as a means for firefighters to deal with the stressors of the job and mitigate the results of post-traumatic stress.
“Our yet-to-be-named puppy will live among the crews and serve as a welcomed and friendly distraction from the team’s duties,” Marcarelli stated. “Vet care, food and other expenses will be funded through donations.”
The division can also be permitting the general public to call its new pup via an online vote.
