RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) – Regional authorities are looking for who shot and killed a five-month-old puppy in Mosby Court Monday early morning.
Richmond Animal Care and Control’s Director Christie Chipps-Peters states a passerby called cops around 10 a.m. when they identified a white and tan pit mix puppy laying in a next-door neighbor’s backyard along the 2000 block of Lodging Street with gunshot injuries.
X-rays reveal the puppy suffered 4 gunshot injuries. One in the back of the head, one in the back of his hip and 2 in his abdominal area.
” A five-month-old puppy, who was doing no damage, it simply seems like a ridiculous act of violence,” Chipps-Peters stated.
Chipps-Peters states they’re still working to discover the puppy’s owner and who shot the dog.
” Being shot 4 times is an issue and absolutely feels deliberate,” she stated. “Officers are canvassing the location, and details appears rapidly, frequently.”
She states the puppy used a green camouflage nylon collar without a name tag. Chipps-Peters states the dog was not micro-chipped, either.
” We have actually had numerous animals who have actually originated from that location, so it’s not unexpected we ‘d have another one discovered, however being shot like that is unexpected, so we hope something like this does not continue.”
She includes in general, RACC sees a boost in animal ruthlessness cases.
” We wish to discover individuals accountable due to the fact that if they’re doing this to an animal, who understands what they’re doing to people.” Authorities are still looking for the suspect.
Chipps-Peters states anybody with any details must call 804-646-5573, e-mail [email protected], or contact Metro-Richmond Crime-Stoppers to stay confidential.
