A DOG which fatally mauled one other in Thurnscoe at first of the yr has been ‘destroyed’, police have confirmed.
On January 5, 73-year-old Frank Goldthorpe was walking his canine, Ellie, round Thurnscoe when she was bitten by one other canine and brought to a close-by backyard the place she was discovered lifeless.
Police have now confirmed that two dogs concerned with the incident have been signed over to the police by their homeowners.
A police spokesperson advised the Chronicle: “Officers attended experiences of a canine attack on Merrill Road in Thurnscoe, Barnsley, on January 5.
“At 2.41pm we obtained experiences that two dogs, believed to be Husky crossbreeds, had been unfastened on the road and had attacked a Jack Russell which was being walked by its proprietor.
“The Jack Russell sadly died following the accidents it suffered.
“Officers contained the dogs in a close-by property till they had been seized and brought to police kennels.
“The proprietor of the dogs signed them over to police.
“One canine has since been destroyed.
“Another is undergoing assessments to be rehomed.”
