JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – Jonesboro police are ensuring a bunch of dogs are wholesome after they had been recovered from a suspected puppy mill.
On Tuesday, Jan. 30, the division, together with animal management officers, executed a search warrant on Karen Siegel’s home within the 200 block of Baker Street.
Police Chief Rick Elliott stated they found a total of 52 dogs, two of which didn’t survive.
“It’s amazing the little affection they got from the people and staff that were out there rescuing them,” he stated. “It made a difference in that dog’s life.”
Elliott defined within the metropolis of Jonesboro, a person can solely legally personal six dogs. He stated they hardly ever see instances like this.
“This is way, way over the limit,” he emphasised. “The environment that they were in was not conducive for humans or animals.”
Elliott stated including 50 extra dogs on prime of an already over-populated facility makes issues advanced for the employees. He stated animal management officers labored “late last night and got started early this morning.”
Elliott stated a veterinarian gave medical exams and cleaned up the puppies on Wednesday, Jan. 31.
