A police canine in Las Vegas is in steady situation after being stabbed a number of instances and airlifted to a veterinary trauma hospital for surgical procedure.

The canine, named Enzo, and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) on Friday responded to a barricade scenario involving a “suicidal man” within the 1200 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard.

“The officers learned the subject was armed with a knife and he refused to exit an apartment,” LVMPD mentioned in a launch. ”During this time the male began a hearth within the condominium and the incident was deemed a barricade.”

After a SWAT group arrived, the person exited the building with a knife.

“He quickly closed the distance on officers who deployed less-lethal options including K9 Enzo,” police added. “Enzo bit the subject, but the male was able to stab the dog multiple times.”

Officers then took the person into custody and rushed Enzo to a neighborhood veterinary hospital, earlier than he was airlifted to a veterinary trauma hospital.

Police later shared an update about Enzo, a virtually 3-year-old Belgian Malinois, by way of social media and confirmed that the canine was in “stable condition and is expected to live.”

One update confirmed Enzo mendacity on what seemed to be a surgical desk with veterinary personnel’s palms round him. Enzo wore a mushy muzzle as he stared into the digicam.

Enzo has been working with the LVMPD for a couple of yr.
