An authorities dog in the Black Country assisted find a man supposedly bring a blade. Officers from West Midlands Police’s dog system were out in Walsall as part of a nationwide week of action versus knife criminal activity called Operation Spectre.
Its dog called Stan found a suspect in the town centre who was then dropped in officers. They had actually thought he might be in belongings of drugs.
When browsed, a knife was found. A 59-year-old man has actually given that been jailed on suspicion of having a knife.

West Midlands Police said: “We jailed a man for having a knife as we performed an operation in Walsall town centre including drugs dog Stan as part of Op Spectre. Stan, from our authorities dog system, notified officers to a man who was then stopped as they believed he might be in belongings of drugs.
“Officers jailed the 59-year-old after finding a knife on him and took him into custody at Bloxwich Police Station. Our St Matthew’s area group signed up with officers with Delves Police and the Walsall Neighbourhood taskforce to participate in the operation.”
Inspector Pete Poolton, Inner Sector Neighbourhood Manager at Walsall regional policing location, said an overall of 14 individuals were stopped throughout the operation. He said: “Stan plays an important function and throughout the operation, 14 individuals were stopped.”
“We understand knife criminal activity is an issue for the neighborhood and we will continue to tackle this danger, make arrests and take knives off our streets.”
As part of Operation Spectre, the force said it would be ‘magnifying efforts to lower knife criminal activity and get weapons off the streets’.
