Plans to develop canine kennels refused after noise and odor complaints

An utility for 2 kennel blocks and as much as 94 new greyhounds in Redmoor Lane, Wisbech, has been refused. The proposal would have seen the dogs added to these presently held in kennels, and brought the general quantity to roughly 120.

Fenland District Council’s planning committee agreed with lots of the feedback by 26 public objectors on Wednesday (October 18) and unanimously refused the appliance. Two noise complaints have been made towards the prevailing kennels, with each submitted to the Environmental Health Service by the identical person – one in April 2022 and one other in July this 12 months.




Councillor Sidney Imafidon mentioned: “I don’t know how you can soundproof a kennel. It’s not possible. It’s common sense: you can’t reduce noise with an increased number of dogs.”

The website is to the south of the home and present canine kennels at 10 Redmoor Lane. It is presently grassland used for the greyhounds to train. Homes are positioned to the north and east, together with one becoming a member of onto the positioning.

No consultant from Harlow Town Greyhound Entertainment Ltd attended Wednesday’s assembly, one thing that councillor Charlie Marks criticised.

Councillor Roy Gerstner mentioned: “It’s the amenity to the residents close by that is going to be affected and that’s not just from noise. It’s the potential smell and getting rid of the dog waste.”
