A Pincher Creek man faces cruelty to animal charges following an RCMP investigation.
On Sunday, a complainant saw what the person believed to be cruel behaviour while the dog was being walked and reported it to Pincher Creek RCMP, the Mounties said on Tuesday.
“The next day, somebody located that dog deceased,” said an RCMP spokesperson.
Police believe the dog to be a rottweiler and shepherd cross. It appeared to be about 12 weeks old and weigh between nine and 11 kilograms.
Jesse Boyd Smith, 34, a resident of Pincher Creek, has been charged with wilfully killing, maiming, wounding or injuring an animal, and wilfully causing unnecessary pain, suffering or injury to an animal.
After a bail Hearing, Smith was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear on Thursday at the Alberta Court of Justice in Pincher Creek.
